Pricing Micro-Determinants in Retail Market of Bahía Blanca

Juan M. C. Larrosa, compiler

In an era characterized by dynamic economic landscapes, where price fluctuations can shape consumer behaviors and industry strategies, the need for insightful analysis of market dynamics becomes paramount. This book explores the intricate world of pricing dynamics, offering a comprehensive exploration of various sectors within the Argentine market.
Each chapter of this book presents a detailed investigation into different aspects of pricing behavior, ranging from the impact of exchange rate fluctuations on consumer prices to the micro determinants influencing pricing strategies in specific industries. Through meticulous analysis of high-frequency price data and sophisticated modeling techniques, we aim to uncover underlying patterns, drivers, and implications of pricing decisions.
Pricing in a chronic inflationary country represents an effort just like trout struggling against the current. Prices must follow a continuous updating process and many resources are allocated just for the purpose. We study aspects of specific product in terms of pricing micro-determinants.
Diverse products and sectors are presented, described, and analyzed in the light of pricing strategies. The results present patterns that can be summarized as a way of depicting business behavior under an inflationary context. For instance, Figure 1 depicts the average results of specific contributions related to yogurt, coffee, tea, yerba, pasta, beer, and wine. Patterns diverge as observed. Two distinctive cases are pasta and wine: pasta overshoots in the first and third weeks, while undershooting in the middle. Wine, on the other side, presents a decreasing undershoot in the first and second week while overshooting in the third week.
